Bordering both Mozambique and a stretch of South Africa, this region forms part of the Great Limpopo Transfrontier Park - an immense cross-border conservation area linking Zimbabwe, South Africa, and Mozambique.
Gonarezhou, meaning “Place of Elephants” in Shona, spans over 5,000 km² of rugged wilderness—from river gorges and sandstone cliffs to open grasslands and mopane woodlands. Despite its size and beauty, it remains one of Zimbabwe’s least visited parks, making it a haven for travellers seeking solitude and raw, wild Africa.
The adjacent Save Valley Conservancy is a leading private conservation area, home to the Big Five and known for its rhino protection efforts and intimate, owner-run camps. Together, these two destinations offer off-the-beaten-path safaris that are rich in biodiversity, conservation impact, and adventure.
