Hwange National Park

Zimbabwe’s largest game reserve and one of its most accessible safari destinations. Located just south of Victoria Falls and bordering Botswana, it’s an ideal option for travellers looking to combine a visit to the Falls with an authentic safari experience.

Hwange is home to large populations of elephants, lions, wild dogs, and over 400 bird species. The park is accessible by road (4x4 recommended) and by air, with several airstrips servicing different areas.

The best time to visit for game viewing is during the dry season, from June to October, when animals gather at waterholes and visibility is high.

The green season, from November to April, offers a different experience – lush landscapes, baby animals, and excellent birding. While wildlife can be harder to spot due to thick vegetation, the park is quieter and many lodges offer reduced rates during this time.
